During the summer months Wednesday Evenings are the mainstay of the club calendar.

All members are welcome and encouraged to come along; whether its to just bimble along the Thames or play in the weirs at Abingdon or Sutton Courtenay.

Non-members are also very welcome, see below for the details of our Wednesday evening activities.

Wednesday Evening Paddling – From the 6th May a duty officer will be at the hut (HERE) every week to perform the following duties:  

• Open the hut.
• Record details of non-members on temporary membership forms
• Record details of who borrows kit and ensure it is returned.
• Collect money from those who borrow kit.

Club members and non-members who wish to visit the club, and can paddle to BCU 1* level are welcome to join these sessions. Note the duty officer is not responsible for looking after or coaching any paddlers, though of course they may if they wish to.

Taster Sessions – On the last Wednesday of every month we will be offering taster sessions where people who have not paddled before may come along and have a go. The club will ensure these sessions are staffed by a BCU level 2 coach.

Times, Locations and Kit – All of these sessions start from the club hut (HERE) at 6:15 PM with the aim of being on the water by 6:45 PM

If you don’t have you own kit then we can provide a boat, paddles, BA and spray deck for a hire charge of £10 per session.

You will need to provide the the following: Neoprene shoes/wet-suit boots or other shoes suitable for use on/in the water, lightweight windproof jacket, tracksuit or thermal trousers (or shorts if warm). Thermal t-shirt, woolly jumper or fleece. YOU SHOULD BE PREPARED TO GET WET IN THESE CLOTHES.  A towel and change of clothes will also be needed.
