Monthly Meeting – The next meeting is Wednesday 7th October in the Fox Inn, Steventon at 8:30ish. Come along and see what’s going on.
Trasher – There is another excellent (it must be good I’m on the cover!) new Trasher available on the KCC website. Download it here: https://kingfishercanoeclub.co.uk/the-trasher/downloads/ This month the password has changed.
Many thanks to Nikki for putting this together. If you’ve been up to anything interesting paddling wise or have anything you want communicating then please consider writing something to be included in the Trasher. Let the Editor know at email@example.com
Todd Morris Memorial Triathlon – This takes place next Sunday (13th Sept). For those new to the club, this is a short fun event open to all abilities so please join in. Last year there was 7 taking part and I hope there will be even more this year. For those not taking part, please come along to help organise the race and provide support and encouragement to those taking part. The race will consist of: kayaking, cycling and running.
As this is a memorial event, entrants and spectators will be asked to pay a voluntary entry fee which will be given to a cancer charity (Cancer Backup). Full details can be found here: http://www.google.com/calendar/event?eid=NmRhaHJwNW1tdDE1a25majVkZzBlZWxrbnMga2NjLnNlY3JldGFyeUBt&ctz=Europe/London
Ock BoaterX and Wavehopper Event and BYO BBQ – Sunday 20th September 2PM KCC/PYCC Abingdon – Pathfinders, Kingfisher and Riverside are invited to this event. The Boatercross involves racing any boat shorter than 2m down the Ock from the Drayton Rd. back to the club. Head to head at 30 second intervals. After the event we will have a BYO BBQ. We will provide the charcoal, paper plates, cutlery and cups. You bring everything else. This is a fun event in which everyone can take part, so it would be good to have a good number. Dave Surman will be holding a Wavehopper familiarisation session on the Thursday before (17th) for anyone interested in using these boats from 6-8 at the club.
Wednesday Night Hut Duty – During the summer we need someone to open up the hut and be responsible for handing out kit on Wednesday evenings. Additionally we need L2 or above coaches to take out beginners on our monthly taster sessions. Full details of what these involve can be found here: https://kingfishercanoeclub.co.uk/wednesday-evening-paddling-2009/
The sessions are marked on the club calendar (HERE), those that are already manned have the volunteers name in the entry. If you can help with any of the sessions that are currently unmanned then please let me know.
