February Updates

February Updates

Winter has definitely been around in the last few weeks, but remarkably dry, but this is not stopping us to get out on the rivers. And there is more to come. So here is a summary of the main dates to keep in your calendar for the coming weeks.

If you are doing something and would like to share it with the rest of KCC, then please let me know and I will pass the information around.

Open Canoe Trip on the Usk

Alastair Wilson is organising a Open Canoe trip on the classic section of the Usk from Talybont to Crickhowell, on the 19th February. For those interested, please contact Alastair. This section is grade 2-3.

Sandy’s Tryweryn Trip

Sandy Benchetrit is planning on a trip to the big T on the week end 3rd-4th March. This is great for paddlers of all level and is looking like a great week end. Sandy has now booked a bunkhouse accommodation. Cost of £20/night.

Dee River Festival

Is anyone interested in attending this? In addition to paddling on the River Dee there are various workshops, courses and other entertainment going on. It’s also near the Tryweryn and if it rains all those lovely North Wales rivers!
If anyone who wants to go can you let Simon Knox know before 29th Feb as he’ll be arranging accommodation.

French Exchange

After the success of Argentan Canoe club coming to meet us at the Dart, there are talks of paying them a visit for a week end of good water and good food. I will provide further information once a plan has been drawn.

Surmanator’s Presentation

Dave Surman will be doing a presentation on his recent trip to Ecuador on the 22nd February at the Abbey Sailing Club (next door to the hut) from 8pm.
