KCC June Updates
Water is around, and all is great. The Thames is flowing, Hurley is open… what else could be asked.
To the disapointment of everyone, because of the high levels, the Blastathon has to be delayed by a couple of weeks. The new date is on the 30th June from 4pm at the hut or 5pm at the weir. Currently Abingdon is on alternate gate making it unsuitable for an event open to all. Keep an eye on the website and the Facebook page for updates.
Upcoming Safety courses
A Foundation Safety and Rescue Training is being organised by Louise for the Saturday 22nd June. You should be of 2* Canoe and Kayak ability. Places are limited to 6, so please contact Louise Royle for booking your space. Cost is £25 for club members. Deadline for booking is the 23rd of June.
The week end of 15-16th September, there is an Advanced White Water Safety and Training course being organised. It will take place in North Wales and will be run by Chris Eastabrook. Cost for the week end is £125. Should be a minimum of 8 people (currently 6 interested). Please contact Ludo Letourneur if you need further info or want to book your space.
Summer normally means low water for river running. This year may be an exception. However, there will be what is about to become a KCC annual surfing trip. This year Nick Smailes is organising it. Please contact him to express interest.
There will be also an Austria trip from 28th July to 4th August, orgnanised by Vicky. Not sure if there are spaces available.
And as always there is the monthly meeting which will be on 4th July, and Wednesday paddle every week from about 6pm from the hut.
Note also the mini Trasher has been done. It can be viewed in the dowload section of the website.
