Are you new to paddling and Interested in having a go at kayaking, canoeing or SUP?
Then these adult START sessions are for you.
Sessions: evening or weekends* and last 2-3hr covering the basics of: staying safe; clothing and equipment; paddling forward, turning and stopping; getting on and off the water.
Have you tried paddling a canoe and want to become a more skilled and independent paddler?
Then these adult DISCOVER sessions are for you.
Sessions: evenings or weekends and last 2-3hr for a total of approx 6 hours coaching. Session times will be arranged between yourself and the coach
Your instructor will work with you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, helping you become a more skilled and independent paddler. You will learn how to choose and effectively use equipment; where and when to paddle; develop your ability to control the direction of your craft; safety and rescue.
On completing this DISCOVER course, you will have the skills required to become a member of KCC and enjoy paddling on club sessions. Membership of KCC for the current year will be available at 50% discount.
You will need: Neoprene shoes/wet-suit boots (or sandals/small trainers that are not too bulky and do not fall off if you swim!); tracksuit or thermal trousers; thermal t-shirt, woolly jumper or fleece (or wetsuit if you have one). YOU SHOULD BE PREPARED TO GET WET IN THESE CLOTHES. Towel and change of clothes. Also bring a lightweight windproof jacket if you have one.
We will provide: a kayak, canoe or SUP; paddle, buoyancy aid, helmet and spray deck (or quick release leash for SUP). Please feel free to bring your own if you have this equipment.
